Description
The ML8511 breakout is an easy to use ultraviolet light sensor The MP8511 UV (ultraviolet) Sensor works by outputing an analog signal in relation to the amount of UV light that’s detected This breakout can be very handy in creating devices that warn the user of sunburn or detect the UV index as it relates to weather conditions.
Getting started with ML8511 UVB UV ray sensor
In this tutorial we are going to see how we can read the intensity of sun rays or another source of light that emit ultra violet light so we will be using the ML8511 module it’s a board that have all need components on it to support the ML8511 chip so, let’s start
Step1: Hardware required
Step2: Hardware connections
connect the UV rays sensor as shown on the image below but make sure you don’t connect the vin and also the supply voltage of the sensor will use 3.3volts ( you can find it on the arduino board)
after connecting the circuit let’s start testing it by uploading the sample code that I provided on the next step
Step3: Testing the circuit
so for this level no required library so you can download the sample sketch here. after downloading open it! and connect your arduino board to the computer choose the serial port and the board type from the tools on the tab, after upload the sketch to the micro-controller. open the serial monitor and you will start getting values try to go outside on the sunshine you will see that the intensity is changing as shown below
this is the sample tutorial to get you started with this sensor you can build the amazing stuffs so it’s you time to think what you can do with the ML8511 ray sensor
Step4: Documents
You can download all the documents we used for this tutorial here
